The Gothic style of Poe has always been a favorite of mine. My favorite short story of all time, second only to Vonnegut's "Harrison Bergeron," is Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart." Since my studies were mostly focused on British Literature, I didn't read much Poe until fairly recently. The film THE RAVEN really renewed my interest, along with my publisher calling me a "female Poe" due to the dark nature of my own short fiction. The film introduced me to the glorious "Annabel Lee," perhaps one of the greatest poems ever written, and I fell in love with Poe all over again. This time, Poe the poet!
This piece is dark, like the writing of Poe and some of my own work (especially under the pen name O. M. Grey), and it has words from his "Annabel Lee" written in the background.
This is mostly acrylic on canvas, but his coat is textured with handmade paper.
